Locations
|
Quadra Island is an island off the eastern coast of Vancouver Island,
British Columbia, Canada, part of the Discovery Islands. It is separated
from Vancouver Island by Discovery Passage, and from Cortes Island by Sutil
Channel. Access to Quadra Island from Campbell River is only a 10 minute
ferry trip. |
History
|
Quadra, which was named after a Spanish naval officer, was a pristine
wilderness until the 1880's when logging and mining interests discovered
its riches. It became one of the few Gulf Islands where mining could be profitable. |
Training
|
Our Training Schedule includes inclass training, an example is the First
Responders training. Also available is government sponsored First Aid courses.
We also have out door exercises that include fire fighting. Working together
as a team to battle dangerous situations. |
Safety Tips
|
Smoke Alarms save Lives. Most fires of electrical origin are a result of defective or inadequate wiring
and equipment. Extension cords should be used as a temporary connection only
and must NOT be used as a means of permanent wiring, especially for high wattage
appliances such as air conditioners, portable electric heaters and freezers.
If you are using extension cords consider installing a permanent receptacle
in the area required or relocate the appliance the extension cord is being
used with. |
Equipment

An important factor in modern fire fighting is the quality and condition
of the fire fighting equipment. Our two firehalls have efficient and productive
vehicles. Our storage of equipment is up todate and ready to use. Below
see some images of our trucks and vehicles. |

Community minded, Community driven, the Fire Deparment is involved in civic events plus events involving other Fire Deparments. |
